On the 30th July 2018 the NSW Government announced its $500 million Emergency Drought Relief Package,  which takes NSW Government Drought support to more than $1.1 billion.

In June 2018, the NSW Government announced $584 million for drought support.

The NSW Government’s latest announcement included the introduction of Drought Transport Subsidies to cover up to 50 per cent of the full cost of transporting fodder, water for stock and livestock to pasture, slaughter or sale.

The NSW Government will fund a transport subsidy of up to $20,000 per farm business backdated for freight expenses incurred since January 1, 2018.

As part of the emergency funding, waivers will apply on Local Land Services annual rates, fixed charges on water licences, registration costs for class 1 agricultural vehicles and interest for existing Farm Innovation Fund loans.

The Emergency Relief Package also includes waived Local Land Services annual rates, fixed water charges in rural and regional areas, as well as class 1 agricultural vehicle registration; Support services including counselling and mental health; Community assistance including water cartage and drought-related road infrastructure improvements and animal welfare and stock disposal.
