Bushfire and Drought Tourism Recovery Initiatives

Bushfires and drought have had a devastating impact on NSW’s visitor economy.  The good news is that there are lots of opportunities underway to help support NSW tourism and businesses get back on their feet.

Now’s The Time to Love NSW!

Launched by the NSW Government and Destination NSW this week, the new #LoveNSW campaign urges people to take a mini (or long!) break that actually helps give back at the same time. Called a #RecoveryWeekend ,  the concept is that as visitors are enjoying the amazing  people, places and activities they are visiting in regional NSW, they also help to rebuild our tourism by saturating their social media with photos/videos of their favourite holiday spots or people. This helps to reassure other travellers all over the world that our beautiful towns and villages are open for business and that the Central West has the welcome mat out.  Read more to find out how you can #LoveNSW.

Get Involved – Show The Love, Share The Love!

Tourism operators, business owners and locals alike can get involved in the campaign by showing the world what’s to love about your own town or village experience or attraction by following these steps:

  1. Make your hands into a ‘heart’ shape.
  2. Take a photo with your ‘heart’ in a NSW location.
  3. Share the photo on your social media with the hashtag #LoveNSW

Encourage visitors, family and friends to take a #RecoveryWeekend in regional/Central West NSW and get them to post and tag their #LoveNSW favourite regional people, spots and activities too!

The new ‘Go Regional’

Go Regional is the new travel website that plans to put the spotlight on towns and regions in NSW by offering visitors a list of things to do and see when they’re in an area. Go Regional is keen to list as much regional Australia tourism related information with everything from cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops through to motels/hotels and nature activities and markets – and everything in between!
