Last week the Central West town of Cowra hosted a major agribiz forum for local beef, mutton and lamb producers. The annual Agribusiness Today Forum’s presentation of key-note speakers was held at the Cowra Services Club followed by Field Trips around the region the next day.
This year’s theme was how to maximise red meat yields and business opportunities. The two-day event successfully attracted over 100 delegates to town.
The Forum was addressed by a number of high calibre speakers including representatives from Meat and Livestock Australia, JBS and NAB. Delegates had the opportunity to attend one of three field trips the following day. These included a Gundamain Feedlot tour, a Back Creek Pastoral Feedlot presentation and a Greenethorpe Farming Systems tour. These are all local Cowra region operations who were generous in opening up their farm gates to interested delegates so they could learn more on the ground.
“The Central West is renowned for world class produce. The red meat sector is a major employer and driver of the region’s economy. It was great to showcase the sector and deliver the Agribusiness Today Forum for another year, said Regional Development Australia (RDACW) Central West’s CEO Sam Harma after attending the Forum last week.
“The Forum is a much anticipated agribiz event held annually at different locations across Central West, NSW.
“A BIG shout out to all the generous sponsors, speakers, partner organisations and committed organisers who worked so hard to make this such a stellar event this year. Thank you,” Mr Harma said.
Some of the key partners and sponsors included: Charles Sturt University, Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation, Local Land Services NSW, Central West Farming Systems, Cowra Council, DATAMARS, NSW Farmers and RDA Central West.
