Central West NSW is known for its outstanding food, wine and agricultural production. Spanning 63,000 square kilometres, the region stretches from the elevated Central Tablelands west of the Blue Mountains to the semi-arid plains almost 500 kilometres away.

More than 182,000 people live across 11 local government areas: Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Lachlan, Lithgow, Oberon, Orange, Parkes and Weddin.

The region has a diverse and resilient economy driven by agriculture, mining and tourism, with health and education playing an increasingly important role. Rich soils, significant mineral deposits and varied landscapes support a wide range of industries, including forestry, cool-climate produce, dairy, sheep and beef, as well as irrigated and broadacre cropping.
