STEM Industry School Partnership (SISP) Program
Regional Development Australia (RDA) Central West is collaborating with the NSW Department of Education to implement the STEM Industry School Partnerships (SISP) program in the Central West.
Funded by the NSW Department of Education SISP matches primary and secondary schools with region-specific industry partners and provides industry-specific technology programs to make classroom learning relevant and engaging. The program provides primary and high school students in regional areas with age appropriate STEM skills and pathways to STEM jobs.
In 2018, RDA Central West, RDA Hunter and RDA Southern Inland piloted the SISP program. In 2019, the program has been expanded to RDA Riverina and RDA Mid North Coast.
SISP is guided by the recommendations identified in the National STEM School Education Strategy (December 2015) and Optimising STEM industry-school partnerships: Inspiring Australia’s next generation (April 2018) papers both supported by the Education Council.
SISP is a proven model that contributes to a STEM continuum, upskills teachers and provides industry with motivated candidates.
